Thoughtful Thursdays: WORDS OF WISDOM

By Candice Aiken.

Welcome to our new weekly segment… *THOUGHTFUL THURSDAYS* where we will be bringing you rockin’ words of wisdom, knock-your-freaking-socks-off inspirational stories and well, pretty much anything that will remotely fit into this category!

This week I would like to share with you some words of wisdom that were relevant to me personally over the last week and hopefully they will resonate with you too:

1. Be YOU and only YOU!

I have struggled many times in the past (and even in recent times) with “comparison-syndrome” and the ol’ “I’m not good enough” thoughts that pop up without warning. I’ve shared this Dr Seuss quote here on Co-inside before and I will happily share it again because it is so powerful and instantly smacks down those hideous thoughts before they resurface!

Don’t compare yourself to anyone else out there or even for a second think that you are not good enough. You are YOU, and only YOU can offer what YOU have. There is NO-ONE in this world like you; with the same experiences, personality or the same story to share… not a single soul. So be yourself, smile and hold your head high, don’t internalise how you might be perceived by others and just let that ridiculously bright floodlight of yours shine through!

2. Love conquers all

The phrase ‘love conquers all’ is so incredibly true in my life. I have been very fortunate to attract loving people and situations wherever I go in whatever it is I do. Dr Wayne Dyer says ‘you get what you think about, whether you want it or not’… well I just want to be surrounded by love and loving people at all times, that’s what I think about and so that’s exactly what I get! Whenever I am feeling off-balance, disconnected or less than great, I pause for a minute, take a good look around me and remind myself of the immense love I have directed to me in this world from… my doting husband, my annoying ‘licky’ dogs, my beautiful family, my uber supportive friends and from YOU! With this in mind, I can get through absolutely any obstacle that may cross my path.

If you ever feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, ask yourself who or what is in your life that shows you immense love and show your gratitude. Better yet, show yourself the kind of love you wish to receive from others.

3. Value Your Friends, they are very special gifts to be treasured

Since my recent commitment to Marie Forleo’s Rich, Happy and Hot B-School (which I am SUPER excited about I must say), I have connected with the most incredible women and men. I am in awe of the amount of generosity and support I have been flooded with and the instant friendships I’ve made, some of which I know will last a LONG time! I am deeply grateful to have had this opportunity and even more grateful for these friendships.

The experience of connecting with like-minded and supportive people from across the world also reminds me of the many people I am currently blessed to be friends with.

Are there any friends in your life you are ultra grateful for but haven’t spoken to for a while? Send them a text or email, better yet… pick up the phone (totally old school, I know) and let them know you love them! :) *waves at friends and sends virtual bear hugs*
