Thoughtful Thursdays: How to Heal Yourself With Love

Curtis Aiken.

Every day we are made aware of the hazards in our day-to-day life that are making us sick without us knowing it.

Did you know that the following things in your home are making you sick: electricity, carpet, disconnection to the earth, your computer (don’t stop reading though, if you are concerned, print this article), your printer (okay, don’t print this article then), varnish, paint, most of the food in your pantry, the packets and containers your food is kept in, tap water, bottled water, filtered water, bacteria, anti-bacterial cleaning chemicals, personal care products, your toothbrush, the age of your fresh (or not so fresh) produce, cooked food, too much raw food, your pets, your dog licking you in the mouth (their tongues are so damn quick!), pet dander, electromagnetic fields (EMF), electromagnetic radiation (EMR), dental cavities, dental fillings, waking to an alarm clock, sleeping in too long, light in your bedroom at night… That wouldn’t even be 10% of the hazards.

Ellen DeGeneres would be proud of me

The more we learned of these hazards, the more changes we made. We changed our toothpaste, our personal care products and our food. We eliminated light from our room at night. We stopped drinking alcohol. I avoid the computer as much as possible (very hard when you manage a website). We changed so many things but in doing so, we discovered a new form of stress: healthiness stress. This is the kind of stress you’ll experience when you are thirsty but you have no access to water that has been through a 5-stage filter or when you go to a restaurant and they don’t serve raw, vegan, organic fair-trade food so you decide to just grab a packet of organic almonds from the health food shop next door. Then, you realise the organic almonds haven’t been activated, so you think, “Boy, I could really do with a drink.” But then you remember you don’t drink alcohol anymore, not even if it is biodynamic, preservative-free Shiraz, which used to be your favourite. Then, you begin questioning how David Wolfe, Dr Mercola and Kirstie Alley stay so slim and healthy AND still remain happy and stress-free. Then, I wonder if I’m going to hell because of that unnecessary cheap joke at Kirstie Alley’s expense? She never harmed anyone.

Ultimately, none of that story happened but portions of it do happen in the stressful lives of people who just want to feel good and want it to be not so damn hard! All this Ellen DeGeneres-style rambling brought me to the question: “what would Jesus do?” You probably think I’m joking, but I am being serious. I am asking the question, would Jesus get sick if he lived today? Would Jesus get sick from fluoridated water, genetically modified corn, non-activated almonds, and laughing at my Kirstie Alley joke? Would he turn water into wine then refuse to drink it because he is A) watching his calorie intake, and B) is concerned about the state of his liver after his last supper? If Jesus wouldn’t get sick, then the question is, why do we? I don’t believe it has anything to do with the pollutants in our external environment. It has everything to do with the layers and layers of rules and beliefs we OWN that disguise who we really are.

Fundamentally, we’re spiritual beings in physical bodies. We are created by the Creator of all that exists. We are created in His image and we are perfect. We are no different to Jesus, fundamentally. The only difference is that Jesus never forgot his true nature, but we did.

Our purpose in life is to experience who we truly are

There are people alive today who have not forgotten who they really are. I would assume John of God is one of them. In ‘Conversations with God’ by Neale Donald Walsch, we learn that our purpose in life is to remember and experience who we truly are. As I mentioned, and I truly believe this, Jesus is no different to you and me fundamentally. The only difference is that he never forgot who he is and he never allowed his parents or society to tell him how to think and act. So, at the core of who we are, we cannot get sick. If we live from a place of pure love we could build a tree house in a pylon call it a pylon house, line the walls with EMF-producing power outlets instead of wall paper, then drink fluoride instead of water while snacking on non-activated almonds – and we would be fine.

I’m not suggesting that you should quit your medication, give up your health food regime and practice walking on water, what I am suggesting is that in every moment of every day, try to get to know who you really are. You are pure love without illness or pain; you’ve just forgotten this and forgotten how to simply Be Love. One of the quickest ways to reconnect and remember who you truly are is to de-program who you have become. Not that there is anything wrong with who you have become but if you feel that there should be more to your life, here’s a tip to help you rediscover who you truly are – in every moment before you act or react, ask yourself:

What would love do?

In time as you act, speak and think with love you will become closer and closer to knowing your true nature. Your true nature is pure love and there is no sickness in pure love.

How can you act, speak and think differently today to experience yourself as pure love?

So well said! Thanks for a reminder about who really are and a good kick up the bum to not take ourselves so seriously that we forget just to be
